Step Two
Look for a heavy-action rod that is at least 10 feet long when you buy rods for shark fishing. The rod needs to have a long handle with a good forearm grip. The forearm grip is located right above the spot on the rod where the reel goes. There will be a handle, then the spot for the reel and then the forearm grip.
Step Three
Check to see if the rod has a round knob on the end of the handle. Most shark rods have this round knob as a safety measure.
